Vera Jean Arnold Barnett, age 89, passed away peacefully Friday morning, June 6, 2025. She was born November 12, 1935, daughter of the late Needham and Katie Arnold.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Barnett; daughter, Dianne Repasz; son, Bobby Barnett; granddaughter, Suzanne Bennett; brothers, NJ Arnold and Jerry Arnold; and
many other extended family members who were dear to her.
When Vera married Earl in 1959, she gained 4 bonus kids ranging in ages from 14 to 2. A few years later, a younger brother came along and the Barnett clan began. She became “Mama”,
years later, a younger brother came along and the Barnett clan began. She became “Mama”,” Mom”, “Vera Jean”, and eventually “Nanny” and “Big Nanny”. She had no idea that someday
she would have 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren. She was quite the matriarch and will be missed by all who loved her.
Vera is survived by son, Jeff Barnett; daughter, Barbara Hornaday; daughter, Lynn Pinnell (Tim),daughter-in law, Deanna Rogers; grandchildren, Courtney Barnett, Michael Barnett, Melissa
Strout, Chris Rigole, Kim Heath, Brandi Leach, Amy Dickson, Richard Jacobs, Leigh Collins, Cindy Tufano, Joey Sheffield, Melody Denton and Steven Sheffield, and all the great and great-great
grandchildren. Vera is also survived by Miranda Barnett, Michael’s wife, not only a granddaughter but a beloved, devoted and dedicated caregiver who gladly took on the responsibility of caring for Vera when she became unable to care for herself. They had a bond that will never be broken.
A Memorial Service will be held for Vera at a future date and details will be announced by the
family when finalized.
