Byron Norman Long, 69, of Fort Valley, Ga, passed away suddenly at his home on Feb. 12, 2026. He was born in Delaware to the late William Robert Long Sr. and Alice Elizabeth (Davis) Long on August 16, 1956.
He graduated from Smyrna High School class of 1974. Afterwards, he went to work for Chrysler Motor Company. In 1980, he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed at N.A.S. Miramar in San Diego. He served aboard the USS Coral Sea and USS Carl Vinson.
After traveling with his family, he settled in the Byron, Ga area where he worked for AAA Pools and Blue Bird Bus Company.
He is survived by his daughter Christina Stonecypher(John), son William Patrick Long of Byron, granddaughter Ellen of Forsyth, granddaughter Alexandra Water of Lizella, grandson Kody Long of Salem, Oregon; two brothers William R. Long Jr, and Allen Long Sr both of Delaware. Four nieces and four nephews.
Byron wanted to be cremated, and sprinkled out at sea with a wake to follow.
Central Georgia Crematory of Macon is handling the cremation.
